In the year 2199, a UNSA outpost in Alpha Centauri tracked an ftl object on a collision course with Earth. It touched down in the Chinese province of Hebai. The object was obviously engineered by some intelligence and its payload of invasive xeno-animals distributed before the military could set up a quarantine. In the decade that followed, humanity learned to fear Xeno-Spiders as they began erasing life from the surface like locusts. Xeno-Spiders weren’t the only thing on the ship though...
In 2209, Assumption Cathedral in Kirillov, Russia sank into the nearby lake when the ground was ripped asunder. Terra-worms were spotted throughout Asia and where they went, blight soon followed.
Operation Omega was conceived and approved a year later with the first prototype ship rolling onto the launch pad by early 2215. More towns succumbed to undermining by terra-worms while the climate began to change for the worse. Xeno-spiders, initially seen as a controllable menace had adapted. They reproduced exponentially.
Humanity retreated to the biggest cities where spiders had thus far avoided. 2221 saw the first wave of Omega ships launched, thousands of vessels, each one carrying hundreds of thousands of refugees away from the cradle of humanity. Earth. They called it the biggest operation in human history.
The survivors call it… The Lifeship.
Will you lead humanity to salvation or succumb to the void?
